Photography Club student work exhibited at Gallery 44 in Toronto.
Winter Wonderland, Evelyn Jenkins, Grade 6
I was the lead for the Grade 6 Photography Club at John Ross Robertson PS, where students were introduced to the foundations of photography, including the rule of thirds, composition, perspective, and how lighting can shape a photograph’s mood and meaning.
Students created work in response to a new theme. This year’s theme, Emergence, invited them to explore ideas of growth, transformation, and coming into view. Students interpreted the theme in their own ways, capturing images that they felt best expressed the concept.
The final pieces from 16 students were submitted to Gallery 44’s Cameralinks program, where the students’ photographs were displayed in a professional gallery setting. Seeing their work exhibited helped students experience the pride and excitement of sharing their creative vision with a wider audience beyond the school community.
