Students created self-portraits inspired by the iconic style of Frida Kahlo. After learning about Kahlo’s use of bold colours, expressive brushstrokes, and natural symbolism, students sketched their own portrait compositions and explored how artists use visual details to communicate identity.
Using acrylic paint on canvas, they added vibrant backgrounds, leafy elements, and floral motifs to echo the natural themes often seen in Kahlo’s work.
This project encouraged students to experiment with colour mixing, paint layering, facial proportions, and creative details while celebrating individuality.
