This winter scene is a cross-curricular art and science project inspired by our learning about animal seasonal adaptations. Students worked together to build a cohesive woodland landscape, beginning with individually painted birch trees that highlight the unique patterns found in nature. Each student then created a woodland animal commonly found in winter habitats, considering how animals adapt to their environment. Using mixed media: acrylic, tempera, and oil pastels, students explored texture, colour, and detail while bringing their understanding of winter ecosystems to life through art.
Medium: acrylic, tempera, oil pastels on watercolour paper
