In this cheerful and tactile art project, students explored the vibrant world of Vincent Van Gogh’s sunflower paintings through a modern lens. Using tempera paint, they created bold, backgrounds filled with swirling colour, learning how to work with vibrant colour palettes to evoke emotion and energy.
Each student sculpted their own sunflowers from plasticine, adding a playful three-dimensional twist to Van Gogh’s still life. The combination of painting and sculpture allowed for creative freedom and personal interpretation, while still honouring the spirit of Van Gogh’s post-impressionist style.
Medium: tempera, plasticine on canvas
