Students explored bold expression through Georgia O'Keeffe inspired poppies. Students used a “pushing paint” technique, rather than blending. Acrylic paint was layered to build rich, impasto textures. Each poppy was cut out and curled to create a striking pop-out effect, bringing depth and movement to this Remembrance Day display.
Each year, we experiment with a new artistic approach to poppies, such as painting them on circular or square paper, sculpting raised tissue centres, or sprinkling torn construction paper to add visual interest.
